Starling on the Snow

In Gerard Manley Hopkins poem, Pied Beauty, he wrote;
"Glory be to God for dappled things".

I found pied beauty in this Starling on the stippled snow .

One of my fave Hopkins poems, and a quote well-suited to this wonderful photo. Also love the "mirror" speckles - light ones on the dark bird; dark seeds on the snow. Your photo is visual poetry!!

Sitting there in the seeds makes him look like his spots are coming off on the snow. A nice blending effect :-) I like his pose with the beak up. I usually think they are rather ugly, but this photo makes it look as pretty as any other bird.

It's the little things that count.

This is such a lovely photo. Starlings weren't my most favorite of birds but this photo makes him look very beautiful

I'm wondering where all the starlings have gone. I haven't seen any is a long time.
